Leslie Contreras Schwartz is a multi-genre author, writing instructor and mentor. She writes about the experiences of women and girls, mental health, chronic illness and motherhood. Currently, she is working an a horror novel about mothers and vampires. She was the 2019-2021 Houston Poet Laureate and a 2022 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow, and currently teaches at Alma College MFA Program in Creative Writing and for Writing Workshops.
